× Current Opening - Service Technician Extraordinaire

We’re stoked to see you here! Thank you for your interest in applying for this job! We hope to catch up for coffee and donuts soon!

This is an awesome role for a security tech extraordinaire! Bring your toolbelt, fault finding expertise and sunnies – we’ll sort the rest! This service technician role is designed to service our existing clientele in all technical matters relating to client’s security systems. You’ll join our small Sunshine Coast based team and service our clients from Gold Coast to Hervey Bay. We install CCTV, security alarm systems, access control systems, intercoms and a wide range of other technical wiz bang get ups.

Stuff we’ll trust you with
  • You’ll become our 2IC (just without the 2) of service work and service anywhere from 1 client a day to 1000 a day (we like to be ambitious) In all seriousness, you may head to 1 or 10 premises in any one day.
  • Hope you’re up for a drive! Being a service based role, you’ll hit all towns from the beach to the mountains in a fully stocked vehicle – this will be your baby, keep it clean, keep it stocked is our motto!
  • Pro fault finder! Whether it’s a client with a question, a keypad that’s just not working right or a camera that’s going bonkers – You’ll be the face of the issue onsite until it’s resolved.
  • 4 hands is better than 2 right? You’ll predominantly find yourself occupying that spacious ute by yourself but you’ll always hit those jobs where a helping hand is a God send! You’ll be working solo, in a team and from time to time kick out the teaching outfit with an apprentice.
  • Did we say dirty hands? You’ll need to be squeaky clean for service jobs, but this won’t always be the case. You’ll jump across and get your hands dirty on new installs with our project team too from time to time.
  • Apps! Our clients love apps! Whether it be a new install, upgrade or our client has a new phone, you’ll assist clients setting up CCTV, access control and alarm apps on their phones, tablets and PCs while commissioning the job.
  • You’ll need to know your way around an alarm but take it a step further and be able to connect via IP, USB or serial (not the type you eat for brekkie), setup cloud access, change time zones, codes and zones.
  • Port forwarding, subnets and static IPs; many of our systems connect to the internet. On a weekly basis you’ll get your hands dirty in clients routers setting up remote access, configuring PCs and devices on LANs.
  • Ding-Dong! Got your head around analogue and IP intercoms? Servicing intercoms will be as regular as a cold beer on a hot day!
  • RS485, don’t know what this is? Then this jobs probably not for you, but you’ve come this far – give it a crack. Either way, we work a lot with this standard and need you to take to it like kids to a smarties.
  • What’s your knowledge like in Bosch, Inner Range, Tecom, Dahua, Ubiquiti and Aiphone? These are the top brands you’ll be faced with when servicing our clientele.
  • We need someone who loves; IP/HDCVI/Analogue cameras, Presco and Wiegand keypads/readers, NVRs/DVRs, WAPs, TVs, Routers, Switches, PIRs, GPRS’, Intercoms, honestly – we could keep going.
Stuff you’ll tell people at parties

So, what does it take to become a pro in this role?

  • Need to be a pro with customers and be super nice with a dash of compassion.
  • A problem solver, take the issue all the way and not leave it by the roadside for garbage man.
  • Knowledge or more importantly the willingness to learn about anything thrown at you!
  • Support! We’re a close nit bunch, our Project Manager, office crew and other techs are at hand for that much needed local site knowledge.
  • A Queensland Security Advisor and Installer License, Cabling License and Driver’s license is mandatory for this application.
The Christmas party

Let’s cut to the chase, everyone wants to know what you’ll be getting up to at the end of the year! Last year saw our team don the floaties for a four-night team Cruise! While other years we’ve hit the Go Karts and Aqua Park! We don’t mind a bite to eat too, throughout the year we fire up the barbie for a quick brekkie before we kick start the day.
